One area that I do really like is the sound design. However, everything else in the game really shows that they took Dune 2 and did very little to make it look like other comparable games of its day. I do like how they tried their best to give the many different dessert-themed maps a bit more personality. Okay, that may be a tad harsh, but this is a game that is certainly very basic in terms of the way it looks. Trying To Shop At Forever 21Įven at the time, the game was released this was seen as a rather ugly looking game. If you love the Dune franchise you may get a tad more out of it. When Dune 2000 was released it was the late 90s and RTS games had started to get a bit of a cinematic flair to them and this game is sorely lacking in that regard. It is just so lackluster in its presentation that it is hard to get excited by. I am not saying this story is bad or anything like that. The House that prevails will be handed Dune and with that all the Spice they can handle, Spice being the most valuable commodity in the universe! We have House Atreides, House Ordos, and House Harkonnen who have been challenged to prove who is the best.

Start the system with the Windows 98SE Disk. Under the Display settings, I set it to 32MB with 3D & 2D Acceleration enabled. Setup a VirtualBox with the following settings: SciTech Display Driver, which can be downloaded from: 4. I Eventually Got Dune 2000 working in openSUSE 12.2 64 bit, under a Oracle VirtualBox, running Windows 95.ģ. I Also tried in an Oracle VirtualBox Running XP and Windows 98SE, with the same issues, I Tried it under wine, but it ran too fast, the scrolling was way too fast, even if you switch the scroll speed way down and it hanged every couple of seconds. No bugs, not to fast, no sound or scrolling anomalies, no hanging every couple of seconds. I Eventually got Dune 2000 to run, properly. I suppose if you are running windows, as your main OS, you can also try the following solution, by installing Oracle VirtualBox, onto your Windows Machine, but here is how I eventually got it to run. I got it working, under a Oracle VirtualBox running Windows 95. This is how I eventually got it working, on my system.
